From 2018 to 2020, the Turkish non-coniferous roundwood market remained relatively stable, with volumes hovering between 10 800 and 11 000 thousand cubic meters. This stability was followed by two consecutive years of strong growth, pushing the market size to 13 283 thousand cubic meters in 2022.

The expansion reversed sharply in 2023, when the market contracted by roughly 27% to 9 707 thousand cubic meters, a level lower than at the start of the period. Domestic production mirrored this volatile trajectory, while foreign trade played a marginal role in overall supply.

The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 0.8%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 149.5%.

Non-coniferous roundwood shipments from Turkey abroad increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 5 473 K US dollars, marking a moderate increase of 6.4% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports surged by 407.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 71.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, the geographical pattern of exports in value terms was characterized by a strong dominance of Iraq, which accounted for 71.3% of total flows. Other trading partners held relatively minor shares during this period.

During 2017 to 2020, Cameroon, Georgia, and Romania were important suppliers of non-coniferous roundwood to Turkey, with shares of 15.6%, 13.2%, and 12.1% of imports in kind, respectively.
