Production of non-coniferous roundwood in Middle Africa rose from 131.2 million m³ in 2018 to 138.2 million m³ in 2023. The commissioning of the deep-water port of Kribi in March 2018 enhanced export logistics, facilitating timber trade and supporting production growth.

Output continued to increase through 2019 to 2022, reaching 136.9 million m³ by 2022. In 2023, the government raised export duties on raw logs to 75% of FOB value as part of a plan to ban log exports by 2028. This policy encouraged local processing into value-added wood products, sustaining demand for roundwood.

By 2024, the export duty on raw logs remained at 75%, reinforcing the shift toward processed wood. The industrial sector showed resilience with investments in processing local raw materials, supported by infrastructure such as the Kribi industrial-port complex.

Middle Africa's non-coniferous roundwood production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 133.7 million cubic meters of non-coniferous roundwood, marking a 1.4% increase from 2019. Looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, production rose by 3% overall, with an average annual growth rate of 1.0%.
