The non-alcoholic beer market in Russia grew from 149 million liters in 2018 to 180 million liters in 2021. This increase was initially supported by the hot summer of 2018, which boosted seasonal demand. In subsequent years, a broader shift in consumer preferences towards healthier lifestyles heightened interest in non-alcoholic options. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 accelerated this trend as more consumers became mindful of alcohol consumption, while new producers entered the market, expanding the assortment and stimulating overall demand.

In 2022, the market contracted sharply to 147 million liters, an 18% decline. This drop was primarily driven by the introduction of an excise tax on sugar-containing beverages, including non-alcoholic beer, effective July 2022, and the exit of several foreign brands due to sanctions, which disrupted supply chains. However, 2023 saw a strong recovery to 205 million liters, a 39% surge, fueled by the entry of new players offering non-alcoholic alcoholic drinks and a significant expansion of product ranges in retail networks.

The market volume then decreased to 175 million liters in 2024, a 15% reduction from the previous year.

In 2021, Russia's non-alcoholic beer exports totaled 20 965 thousand liters, showing a year-on-year increase of 30.6%. Between 2018 and 2021, exports grew by 35.4%, with an average annual rate of 10.6%. The largest decline occurred in 2020, when exports fell by 12.9%.

From 2018 to 2021, the main destinations for Russia's non-alcoholic beer exports in volume terms were Kazakhstan, with 27.6% of the total, Belarus at 26.8%, and Azerbaijan with 6.0%. Together, these three countries accounted for 60.4% of all export flows.

Over the period from 2018 to 2021, export value increased by 66.5%, averaging an annual growth rate of 18.5%. The most significant drop was in 2020, when exports decreased by 1.0%.

Between 2018 and 2021, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Tanzania were the primary markets for Russia's non-alcoholic beer exports in value terms. Kazakhstan accounted for 26.0% of the total, Belarus for 21.0%, and Tanzania for 5.8%. Collectively, these three countries represented 52.8% of all export value.

Imports of non-alcoholic beer into Russia have declined for two consecutive years. In 2021, imports reached 18 363 thousand liters, a decrease of 26.5% compared to the previous year. From 2018 to 2021, imports fell by 45.4%, with an average annual decline of 18.3%. The peak was in 2019, with 34 314 thousand liters, followed by the largest drop in 2020 at 27.2%. In 2019, imports saw a modest increase of 2.0%.
