The melon market in Azerbaijan showed considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. Market volume rose from 94 558 t in 2018 to 97 050 t in 2019, then dropped sharply to 89 423 t in 2020.

A recovery followed in 2021, with volume reaching 96 256 t, but this was short-lived. The market entered a downward phase, falling to 92 699 t in 2022 and further to 85 194 t in 2023. This decline coincided with a rise in exports, which more than doubled from 2021 to 2023.

Over the full period, domestic production remained the dominant component of market volume, though its fluctuations closely tracked the market's movements. By 2023, both production and market volume had retreated to levels below those of 2018.
