The apricot market in Azerbaijan, measured in volume, reached its highest point in 2019 at 31 785 t before entering a phase of gradual contraction. By 2023, the total market volume had declined to 26 144 t, representing a significant reduction from the peak. This period was characterized by a sustained expansion of export volumes, which grew more than fivefold, while import volumes fell sharply after a brief surge in 2019.

Domestic production of apricots showed modest growth overall, increasing from 28 566 t to 30 462 t between 2018 and 2023. The combined effect of rising exports and falling imports was the primary driver behind the shrinking domestic market volume available for consumption within the country during these years.

In monetary terms, the market's value displayed a different trajectory, growing consistently to a high of $37.4 million in 2022. However, 2023 saw a sharp reversal, with the market value dropping to $27.3 million. This indicates a notable shift in the relationship between volume and price or a change in the traded product mix toward the end of the period.
