From 2018 to 2023, Azerbaijan's production of fresh plums and sloes increased consistently, rising from 36.4 thousand tons to 43.7 thousand tons. This growth supported an expansion of the domestic market volume, which climbed from 30.3 thousand tons to 36.8 thousand tons over the same period, with only a minor stabilization in 2020.

The market's reliance on imports diminished sharply as import volumes fell from 181 tons to 44 tons. Export volumes fluctuated but remained substantial, reinforcing Azerbaijan's position as a net exporter. The net trade balance contributed to the overall market size, which continued its upward trajectory after 2020.

In value terms, the market grew from $20.8 million in 2018 to a peak of $30.4 million in 2022, then declined to $24.5 million in 2023. The physical volume increase did not fully translate into value growth in the later years.

The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 23 498 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 5.5%.
