The malt market volume in Lithuania experienced initial growth, rising from 40.5 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 42.9 thousand tonnes in 2019. This was followed by a period of slight contraction, with the market decreasing to 42.4 thousand tonnes in 2020 and 41.3 thousand tonnes in 2021.

A sharp and sustained decline marked the 2022-2023 period, as market volume fell to 33.5 thousand tonnes in 2022 and further to 28.8 thousand tonnes in 2023. This represented a significant reduction from earlier levels.

A strong rebound occurred in 2024, with the market volume recovering to 37.8 thousand tonnes. This upturn coincided with Lithuania's broader economic recovery, including rising GDP and a rebound in private consumption, which supported increased domestic demand for malt.

In 2021, Lithuania's malt production was valued at 45 903 thousand US dollars, marking a solid increase of 10.6% compared to the previous year. Exports malt from Lithuania

After a two-year decrease, malt exports from Lithuania increased in 2021, reaching 69 159 tonnes, a robust improvement of 11.1% compared to the previous year. Between 2018 and 2021, exports grew by 2.9%, equating to an annualized rate of 1.0%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2020 at 62 232 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 6.0%.

From 2018 to 2021, Poland, Estonia, and Latvia were the main destinations for Lithuania's malt exports in volume terms, accounting for 70.8% of the total. Poland led with 31.4%, followed by Estonia at 22.5%, and Latvia at 16.9%.

Following a two-year reduction, malt exports from Lithuania increased in 2021, totaling 31 218 thousand US dollars, up by 18.8% compared to 2020. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, exports grew by 3%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.0%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 26 277 thousand US dollars, which also experienced the largest decline of 9.1%.
