During this period, land degradation and soil suitability issues in agricultural areas influenced the availability and quality of maize residues.

Market growth continued, reaching 127.7 thousand tons in 2021, 139 thousand tons in 2022, and 161.3 thousand tons in 2023. This increase was primarily driven by the adoption of improved maize seed varieties and hybrid maize technology, as socio-economic factors encouraged farmers to boost maize production, thereby raising the supply of processing residues.

Energy availability was noted as a potential limiting factor for maize processing systems in 2023, yet production advanced. By 2024, ongoing socio-economic influences on seed selection and farming practices continued to affect the market dynamics.
