Earlier Report Observations
The production of maize bran, sharps and residues in Guinea rose from 9 357 t in 2018 to 10 273 t in 2019, a growth supported by the launch of the AgriFARM development project. This initiative aimed to increase the incomes and market access of family farms, which likely stimulated maize cultivation and the availability of its by-products. Output then dipped to 9 468 t in 2020 and stabilized near 9 291 t in 2021.
Market volume recovered to 9 675 t in 2022 following new government protocols with the Chamber of Commerce designed to guarantee the supply and price stability of essential goods. Production surged to 11 099 t in 2023, driven by the delivery of 1 000 pieces of agricultural machinery under the presidential Refondation Verde initiative to revitalize farming, coupled with tax and customs exemptions from renewed supply agreements. In 2024, efforts continued with actions to reduce post-harvest losses and the launch of the first États généraux de l’Agriculture to strengthen the sector's foundations.
