Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the liquid eggs market volume in South America increased from 100.6 thousand tons to 108.7 thousand tons. This growth was initially driven by the expansion of egg production in northeastern states, where improved local incomes boosted output. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further elevated demand for eggs as an affordable protein source, altering consumption patterns and supporting market expansion.

Between 2021 and 2022, market volume continued to rise, reaching 109.9 thousand tons. Technological advancements in liquid egg processing enhanced product stability and applications, facilitating production growth. Simultaneously, Brazil's disease-free sanitary status allowed egg exports to surge by 47% compared to 2019, diverting some supply abroad but without curbing domestic market growth due to robust production increases and sustained consumer preference for eggs as a nutritious food.

In 2023, domestic market volume stabilized at 109.6 thousand tons as a sharp rise in exports, which reached 5.6 thousand tons, absorbed additional production. The sector strengthened through acquisitions and investments in technology, while exports grew further due to biosafety and the absence of avian influenza. For 2024, strong domestic demand and ongoing investments in technology and automation continued to shape the market, with exports at 3.5 thousand tons.
