Earlier Report Observations

The market for liquid eggs in Estonia saw substantial expansion from 2018 to 2022, with total volume rising from 2,338 tonnes to 3,110 tonnes. This growth of 33% was largely attributable to a dramatic collapse in exports, which plummeted from 801 tonnes to just 18 tonnes over the same period, making significantly more product available domestically. While domestic production edged down from 1,028 tonnes to 970 tonnes, import levels remained robust, further supporting the market's increase.

After reaching its peak in 2022, the market contracted to 2,784 tonnes in 2023. This 10.5% decline was primarily linked to a sharp reduction in imports, which fell by over 430 tonnes. Exports remained at a minimal level, and a modest recovery in domestic production to 1,009 tonnes was insufficient to counterbalance the lower import volumes.
