This reduction in domestic market volume unfolded even as local production value rose from USD 2.8 million to USD 4.1 million and imports nearly doubled from USD 33.8 million to USD 66.0 million. The key driver was a dramatic expansion in exports, which grew from USD 21.4 million to USD 65.1 million, drawing supply away from the home market.

By the end of the period, export value had surpassed the combined total of production and imports, resulting in a net outflow of product and a market less than one-third of its initial size.

From 2017 to 2020, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia were consistently the main destinations for Croatia's lip and eye makeup exports in volume terms.
