Turkey's kiwifruit production grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 73 745 tonnes of kiwifruit, marking a robust 15.6% increase compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 31.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.5%.

After two years of decline, Turkey's kiwifruit production value rebounded. In 2020, the output was valued at 63 029 thousand US dollars, reflecting a sharp 34.3% rise from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production value increased by 18.1%, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.7%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 46 926 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 11.5%.

Exports kiwifruit to Turkey

Kiwifruit export volumes from Turkey showed noticeable fluctuations during the period. Volumes reached their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2020, representing a 3.2-fold increase. In 2020, exports totalled 4 873 tonnes, a modest 6.8% gain over 2019. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 0.3%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 202.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Syria (20.8% of exports in kind), Russia (16.8%), and Lebanon (15.9%) were Turkey's key export partners for kiwifruit, together accounting for 53.6% of total export volumes.

Kiwifruit export values from Turkey exhibited an unstable trend. The lowest value was recorded in 2017, rising to a peak in 2020, with a 2.9-fold fluctuation. In 2020, exports amounted to 4 165 thousand US dollars, a substantial 24.1% increase year-over-year. The largest decline was in 2019 at 14.3%, while the largest increase occurred in 2018 at 172.8%.
