The Omani honey market remained relatively steady between 2018 and 2021, with annual volumes consistently near 2 200 t. A severe contraction occurred in 2022, cutting the market size by nearly a third to 1 555 t. A partial rebound followed in 2023, lifting consumption to 1 814 t.

Market dynamics were influenced by shifts in both international trade and local output. Imports, the dominant supply source, dropped sharply in 2022 before a modest recovery in 2023. Domestic production mirrored this pattern, falling in 2022 then rising the next year. Exports, which had grown until 2020, diminished thereafter, leaving more honey for local consumption. In 2024, imports surged to 2 515 t and exports remained low at 294 t, although the full market volume awaits production figures.

Oman's honey exports have grown for two consecutive years. In 2018, exports hit their lowest point at 816 t, with a 16.5% decline from the previous year. By 2020, exports surged to 1 480 t, showing a dramatic 60.6% increase compared to 2019. Overall, from 2017 to 2020, exports rose by 51.5%, averaging an annual growth rate of 14.8%.

Between 2017 and 2020, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Lebanon were the top destinations for Oman's honey exports by volume. The UAE accounted for 41.2% of exports, Qatar for 23.2%, and Lebanon for 17.2%. Together, these three countries made up 81.6% of Oman's total honey export flows.

In 2018, Oman's honey export value dropped to its minimum of 3 343 K $ US, reflecting a 14.0% decline from the previous year. The following year, in 2019, export value peaked at 4 458 K $ US, with a significant 33.4% increase. However, in 2020, export value fell to 4 136 K $ US, a 7.2% decrease from 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, export value grew by 6.3%, averaging an annual rate of 2.1%.

From 2017 to 2020, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon led Oman's honey exports by value. Qatar contributed 35.1% of the export value, the UAE 32.3%, and Lebanon 25.3%. Combined, these three countries represented 92.7% of Oman's total honey export value.

After declining for two years, Oman's honey imports rebounded in 2020. In 2018, imports decreased by 1.4%, and in 2019, they reached their lowest point at 2 403 t. In 2020, imports rose sharply to 3 019 t, a 25.6% increase from 2019. From 2017 to 2020, imports grew by 22.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.0%.

Between 2017 and 2020, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen were the primary sources of Oman's honey imports by volume. China supplied 29.3% of imports, the UAE 24.3%, and Yemen 10.5%. Together, these three countries accounted for 64.1% of Oman's total honey import flows.
