Earlier Report Observations

The Croatian honey market exhibited considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. A sharp contraction in 2019 saw the market volume drop to 5,826 t, a decline of over 30% from the previous year. This was followed by a period of gradual recovery, leading to a rapid expansion in 2022, when consumption surged to 10,647 t. The market then stabilized at a high level of 10,441 t in 2023.

Measured in value, the market followed a comparable trajectory. The market's value fell to $22.2 million in 2019 but subsequently rebounded, surpassing its 2018 level to reach $42.7 million by 2023. This growth in value reflects both the recovery in physical volume and underlying shifts in market prices over the period.

Domestic production trends aligned with the overall market movement, showing a significant decline in 2019 before recovering in subsequent years. The production increase in 2022 and 2023 contributed directly to the higher market volume available for consumption in Croatia during those years.
