Market volume dropped sharply to 92.4 thousand tons in 2020, likely influenced by increased supply chain complexities that raised the need for longer meat freshness, boosting frozen sales but constraining overall import flows. The following year saw stabilization at 92.5 thousand tons, coinciding with the entry of new players like Asoul Poultry Company aiming to produce hatching eggs and broiler chicks, alongside growing investments by the Oman Food Investment Holding Company exceeding OMR 328 million in six self-sufficiency projects.

While the market's physical volume edged down to 89.6 thousand tons in 2022, its value surged to $162.6 million, reflecting increased demand for fresh and frozen poultry amid product diversification. A sharp contraction to 46.7 thousand tons in 2023 occurred as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry imposed price ceilings on chicken to curb price hikes, a move that likely reduced import incentives and encouraged higher exports, reshaping the market's supply structure.
