From 2018 to 2020, groundnut oil production in Mali showed significant volatility, peaking at 30 900 t in 2019 before dropping to 24 500 t in 2020. The decline in 2020 coincided with increased competition from Chinese traders in the regional peanut market, which raised raw material prices and likely constrained access for Malian processors.

After a partial recovery to 28 300 t in 2021, output fell again to 23 800 t in 2022. This downturn reflected the global supply and demand disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected supply chains and consumer demand for peanut oil worldwide.

Production rebounded to 26 400 t in 2023, supported by the launch of a new agro-industrial complex in Sanankoroba with a daily capacity of 100 t of groundnut oil and the introduction of improved, drought-tolerant peanut varieties with higher oil content.
