After peaking in 2020, the market entered a correction phase. In 2021, market volume contracted by 16% to 232.6 thousand tonnes, mirroring a 16% drop in production. The decline continued at a slower pace in 2022 and 2023, with market volume falling by 5% to 220.9 thousand tonnes in 2022 and by another 5% to 209.6 thousand tonnes in 2023.

Armenia's grape production volume increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 283.2 thousand tons of grapes, representing a 30.2% rise compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production grew by 34.9%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 10.5%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 179.7 thousand tons, with the largest decline of 14.4% occurring that same year.

Armenia's grape exports reached their lowest point in 2019 at 4 087 tons, then peaked in 2020 at 8 388 tons, representing a 2.1-fold fluctuation between these years. Noticeable fluctuations characterized the market performance during this period. Armenia's grape export values varied 3.3 times from their low in 2017 to their high in 2020. Armenia's grape import volume declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country imported 2 032 tons of grapes, marking a sudden contraction of 47.8% year-over-year. Between 2017 and 2020, imports decreased by 60.2%, equating to an annualized decline rate of 26.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey and Iran consistently accounted for 89.8% of Armenia's total grape imports in kind, indicating a high degree of market concentration alongside numerous smaller markets.

The maximum value was recorded in 2019 at 3 512 thousand US dollars, when imports saw their largest increase of 36.5%.

Between 2017 and 2020, the leading sources for Armenia's grape imports in value terms were Turkey (44.8% of import value), Iran (33.8% of import value), and Uzbekistan (7.6% of import value). Together, these three countries accounted for 86.2% of total import flows.
