Earlier Report Observations

The Caribbean grape wine market volume stood at 58 288 thousand liters in 2018. It contracted to 53 019 thousand liters in 2019 and fell sharply to 45 353 thousand liters in 2020, a decline largely attributable to the global COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted supply chains and reduced consumption. The subsequent rebound saw the market grow to 54 352 thousand liters in 2021 and peak at 66 830 thousand liters in 2022.

This recovery period was shaped by shifting consumer preferences toward healthier and more sustainable options. Demand for organic and natural wines grew steadily, increasing the market share of such products. This trend, alongside a rising interest in low-alcohol wines, altered the supply structure and contributed to market expansion after the pandemic lows.

By 2023, the market volume receded slightly to 64 619 thousand liters. This occurred amidst heightened international competition and more cautious consumer spending. Furthermore, a replenishment of grape and must stocks after previous short harvests improved production potential but did not offset the overall market contraction driven by competitive pressures.
