Earlier Report Observations

The fungicides market in Lithuania saw significant fluctuations in both volume and value between 2018 and 2024. Market volume dropped from 3 119 t in 2018 to 2 279 t by 2024, while market value, after peaking at 69.7 million USD in 2021, fell to 47.9 million USD by 2024. A sharp rebound occurred in 2020, with volume and value rising by 41.9% and 42.7% respectively, aligning with reported pressures from climate change which can increase fungal disease prevalence in crops and affect supply chains.

EU-wide regulatory harmonization under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, which introduced stricter maximum residue limits and pesticide registration requirements, influenced market access and availability in subsequent years. This regulatory environment, coupled with growing consumer awareness of sustainable agriculture and environmental concerns, supported a broader European trend towards integrated pest management practices and biofungicides. These factors contributed to the subsequent contraction in both the volume and value of the conventional fungicides market from 2021 through 2024.
