Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2020, the fruit and vegetable juice market in Northern Europe was shaped by a rising consumer focus on health, driving demand for organic, sugar-free, and cold-pressed options. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 intensified this trend as consumers sought immunity-boosting products, contributing to a market volume of 1 641 million liters that year despite global supply chain disruptions. This period also saw the accelerated shift to online retail channels.

From 2021, innovation became a key driver, supported by EU regulatory changes approving certain plant-based additives for juices. Major companies, including PepsiCo, launched new organic and fortified juice lines in response to growing demand for functional beverages with added vitamins and sustainable packaging. These developments fueled a premiumization trend, elevating the market's value to 2 130 million US dollars by 2023 even as physical volume contracted to 1 394 million liters.

By 2023, domestic production had recovered to 323 million liters, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, while imports continued to fall. The market's evolution reflected sustained consumer preference for healthier, value-added products and the ongoing influence of earlier regulatory and corporate initiatives.
