Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for frozen vegetables in Middle Africa expanded to 6 476 tons in 2019 but then entered a sustained contraction, declining to 3 643 tons by 2023. The overall reduction amounted to approximately 35% from the peak, with the most pronounced decreases occurring in 2020 and 2021.

This downward trend was primarily driven by a surge in exports, which rose from 155 tons in 2018 to over 3 000 tons annually from 2022 onward. While domestic production increased steadily over the period, reaching 3 298 tons in 2023, and imports fluctuated, the net effect of rising outbound shipments reduced the volume available for domestic consumption.
