Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2019, the market for frozen preserved vegetables in Ukraine grew from 18 097 t to 22 773 t. This expansion was supported by a shift toward frozen semi-finished products, driven by reduced imports from Russia and higher consumer purchasing power. The trend reversed in 2020 when the market contracted to 20 015 t after unseasonably low temperatures and natural disasters delayed the open-field vegetable harvest, tightening domestic supply.

Market volume surged to 28 202 t in 2021 as household demand for frozen vegetables increased due to their longer shelf life and cost-effectiveness. This growth was abruptly halted in 2022 following the full-scale invasion, which led to the occupation of key production regions, widespread disruption of logistics, and a sharp fall in imports, pulling the market down to 16 497 t.

By 2023, the market recovered significantly to 26 469 t, though still below the 2021 peak, as import volumes rebounded strongly.
