Earlier Report Observations
The market volume for fresh pears in Lebanon underwent significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. It started at 43 454 tons in 2018 before plummeting to 30 677 tons in 2019, a drop of nearly 30%. The following year saw a partial recovery to 32 804 tons, but this was reversed in 2021 when volume fell again to 27 841 tons.
From 2021 onward, the market entered a clear growth phase. Volume expanded by 13.7% to 31 643 tons in 2022 and continued to rise by 10.3% in 2023, reaching 34 904 tons. Despite this two-year recovery, the 2023 market volume remained about 20% below the 2018 level.

Lebanon's pear production reached 40 608 tonnes in 2020, marking a significant 16.6% increase from the previous year. Looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, production actually decreased by 4.8%, which translates to an average annual decline of 1.6%. From 2017 to 2020, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait were the leading destinations for Lebanon's pear exports in volume terms.
