During this period, the industry featured the late-ripening, high-yielding 'Fraoula' table grape variety, primarily geared for the domestic market due to its limited shelf life. After a modest production increase to 828.3 K t in 2021, output eased to 820.5 K t in 2022, a year where rising food costs and inflation began influencing consumer purchasing decisions for fresh fruit. The market downturn accelerated dramatically in 2023 when severe fungal infections, causing crop losses exceeding 89% in major growing regions like Almopia and Krya Vrysi, decimated harvests. This led to a collapse in national production to 564.2 K t, pulling the domestic market volume down to 521.6 K t.
