Earlier Report Observations

The market for fresh grapes in Kazakhstan showed a fluctuating trajectory from 2018 to 2023, with the total volume moving from 3.8 million tonnes to 4.1 million tonnes. The country's grape farming has traditionally been concentrated in the irrigated lands of South Kazakhstan, Almaty, and Zhambyl regions, structured around several production directions including table grapes, dried fruit, and supplying raw materials for wine and preserves.

After a drop to 3.7 million tonnes in 2020, market volume recovered to a peak of nearly 4.2 million tonnes in 2022 before a slight decline in 2023. Import volumes varied considerably during the period, reaching 320 thousand tonnes in 2022. By 2024, factors such as rising wage levels and the emergence of major online food retail platforms like Uzum Market began shaping the distribution and consumption environment for fruit products.
