Earlier Report Observations

Over the period from 2018 to 2023, the market volume for extracts and juices of meat, fish, and aquatic invertebrates in the CIS fluctuated but showed overall growth, reaching 3,068 t in 2023 from 2,874 t in 2018. The market expanded in 2019, contracted in 2020, recovered in 2021, and continued to grow modestly in 2022 before a stronger increase in 2023.

Regulatory updates played a role in shaping the market environment. Starting from January 1, 2022, amendments to the Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature (TN VED) altered the classification and regulatory requirements for products containing over 20% meat, fish, or seafood. These changes affected production standards and labeling, coinciding with a shift in trade flows as imports and exports became more active.

The market growth in 2023 was directly supported by an increase in the catch of aquatic bioresources in Russia, which expanded the raw material base for production. Rising investor interest in fish farming and plans for new trout sea farms further indicated a strengthening supply side. Into 2024, continued development of aquaculture and growing domestic production support the market's expansion.
