Exports of dried shelled legumes from Northern Africa have increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, shipments reached 186 thousand tonnes, showing a moderate year-on-year growth of 3.8%. However, over the broader period from 2017 to 2020, exports actually decreased by 14.7%, averaging an annual decline of 5.2%. The lowest export volume was in 2018 at 147 thousand tonnes, which experienced the sharpest drop of 32.9%. In contrast, 2019 saw the largest increase of 22.5%.

From 2017 to 2020, the export destinations for dried shelled legumes were quite diverse. India accounted for 15.0% of exports in volume, Iraq for 8.2%, and Turkey for 7.7%.
