Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for dried grapes in South-eastern Asia showed considerable volatility between 2018 and 2023. After increasing from 25 976 t in 2018 to 28 484 t in 2019, it contracted sharply to 18 537 t in 2020. A recovery followed, lifting the market to 27 110 t in 2021 and further to a peak of 32 384 t in 2022, before a decline to 26 257 t in 2023.

These swings were largely driven by changes in imports, which form the bulk of supply. Imports rose from 25 820 t in 2018 to 28 578 t in 2019, then fell to 23 358 t in 2020, before rebounding and reaching 32 894 t in 2022, only to drop again to 27 446 t in 2023. Exports, though smaller in volume, also affected net availability, notably in 2020 when they surged to 6 615 t.

In 2024, imports into the region increased to 30 637 t while exports fell to 1 357 t. The market continues to evolve under the influence of regulatory measures such as Vietnam's Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, which requires businesses to declare product quality before sale, and growing consumer demand for safe, high-quality dried grapes, including new formats like raisins on the branch.
