Earlier Report Observations

The dried grapes market in the MENA region grew from 99.4 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 122.0 thousand tonnes in 2019, then declined to 105.7 thousand tonnes in 2020 and 75.1 thousand tonnes in 2021. Market volume rebounded sharply to 121.8 thousand tonnes in 2022, driven by the Egyptian government's investment of $2.73 billion to boost agricultural production and an overall increase in fruit and vegetable output across North Africa.

In 2023, the market contracted to 100.9 thousand tonnes. During this period, Egypt reinforced its role as a key regional player, ranking first in the Arab world for table grape production with an expected output of 1.57 million tonnes for the 2023-2024 season.
