Earlier Report Observations

The market for dried grapes in Asia expanded steadily from 212 thousand tons in 2018 to 314 thousand tons in 2022, driven by infrastructure improvements in major producing regions and enhanced agricultural techniques. In China's Turpan area, road network upgrades facilitated smoother grape distribution, broadening market access. Simultaneously, India's focus on improving grape quality and export policies boosted domestic production availability.

A sharp 22% volume jump occurred in 2022, coinciding with China's imposition of anti-dumping duties on Australian wine, which redirected demand toward regional grape supplies. The following year, market volume contracted to 289 thousand tons as South Korea's wine sector faced declining sales and rising input costs, reducing grape procurement.
