From 2018 to 2023, the Uzbek chicken meat and offal market more than doubled in size, with total volume growing from 109.6 thousand tonnes to 240.7 thousand tonnes. Domestic production rose from 96.9 thousand tonnes to 170.2 thousand tonnes over this period. This expansion was supported by the entry of new processing players, notably the SAFI brand, which secured a position as a supplier for major fast-food chains like KFC, stimulating local production and consumption.

Imports surged from 12.8 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 81.9 thousand tonnes in 2024, becoming a key source of supply. The growth was facilitated by the development of import channels, particularly from Ukrainian factories offering competitive prices, and was further encouraged by customs duty exemptions on poultry meat imports introduced in October 2024.

In 2024, the government implemented measures to support the poultry sector, including a presidential decree on genetic technologies and cooperation, the introduction of tariff quotas regulating import volumes, and plans for new large-scale farming projects. These steps coincided with a notable rise in exports, which reached 14.2 thousand tonnes in 2024, marking a shift towards greater trade activity.

Uzbekistan's chicken meat and offal production saw growth for two consecutive years before declining. In 2020, production dropped to 101.4 thousand tons, marking an 11.7% decrease compared to the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production increased by 35.6%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 10.7%. The peak production was recorded in 2019 at 114.9 thousand tons, while the most significant year-over-year increase occurred in 2018 with a 29.5% rise.

The export market for chicken meat and offal from Uzbekistan showed considerable volatility during this period. Import levels varied dramatically, with a 7.6-fold difference between the low point in 2017 and the high point in 2019. In 2020, exports fell sharply to just 29 tons, representing an 83.7% decline from the previous year. The highest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 176 tons, while the largest percentage increase occurred in 2018 with a remarkable 437.3% surge.

From 2017 to 2020, Uzbekistan's chicken meat and offal exports were concentrated in three main markets: Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Tajikistan. Together, these countries accounted for 87.3% of all exports in volume terms.

The export market in value terms exhibited significant volatility during these years. The lowest value was observed in 2017, while the highest occurred in 2019, with a peak-to-trough ratio of 217 times. In 2020, export value dropped to 50 thousand US dollars, which is 76.7% lower than in 2019. The maximum value was recorded in 2019 at 214 thousand US dollars, and the largest percentage increase happened in 2018 with an extraordinary 3,943.9% growth.

During the 2017-2020 period, Afghanistan and Tajikistan dominated Uzbekistan's chicken meat and offal exports in value terms, jointly accounting for 86.6% of total export value. Other countries made up the remaining share.

Uzbekistan's imports of chicken meat and offal continued to grow for the third consecutive year. In 2020, imports reached 30,778 tons, showing a substantial 56.1% increase compared to the previous year. Over the entire period from 2017 to 2020, imports grew by 150.9%, which corresponds to an average annual growth rate of 35.9%.

Between 2017 and 2020, imports of chicken meat and offal to Uzbekistan were relatively evenly distributed among several countries. Turkey accounted for 19.9% of imports, Belarus for 16.4%, and Belgium for 13.0%. Together, these three countries represented 49.4% of total import volume.

Uzbekistan's imports of chicken meat and offal in value terms continued their upward trend for the third year in a row. In 2020, import value reached 22,247 thousand US dollars, reflecting a 47.2% increase year-over-year. From 2017 to 2020, import value grew by 124.6%, equating to an average annual growth rate of 30.9%.

Throughout the 2017-2020 period, Belarus, Turkey, and Belgium formed the key group of import partners for Uzbekistan in value terms. Belarus accounted for 23.9% of import value, Turkey for 17.5%, and Belgium for 11.1%. Together, these three countries represented 52.5% of total import value.
