Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2023, chicken meat and offal production in CIS increased from 5.5 million tons to 6.6 million tons, supported by state-backed poultry farms and agri-holdings, along with investment programs in the sector. The expansion of exports, particularly to other CIS countries, and a surge in offal segment volume by over 100% in 2019 contributed to overall market growth.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted logistics and demand, leading to price volatility and a shift in consumer preferences toward semi-finished and ready-to-eat chicken products. This period also saw tightened hygiene and storage requirements under sanitary norms, and later years introduced new labeling and traceability standards that improved supply chain transparency.

From 2022 onward, sanctions and trade restrictions encouraged import substitution and domestic production growth, while stricter labeling legislation was implemented. Export growth to China and the Middle East accelerated, with China becoming the leading destination by 2024. New product segments like chilled semi-finished items in specialized packaging emerged, and increased imports from Brazil and Argentina intensified market competition.
