Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2023, the cassava market in the Americas showed variable growth, with volume rising from 26.5 million tons to 26.6 million tons. The increase was primarily driven by growing consumer preference for gluten-free and natural foods, which spurred demand for processed cassava products such as frozen cassava and snack bars.

Market volume declined to 25.6 million tons in 2022 due to drought in major producing areas like Bahia, Brazil, reducing cassava yields. Recovery in 2023 to 26.6 million tons was supported by investments from large companies including Cargill and Ingredion, which expanded processing capabilities and introduced new product innovations.
