Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2022, the Hungarian market for bran, sharps and residues from cereal or legume processing contracted consistently, with its volume falling from 357 thousand tons to 302 thousand tons. This downward trend reversed sharply in 2023, when consumption jumped by 19% to reach 360 thousand tons, a level higher than at the start of the period.

The overall market decline was paralleled by a reduction in domestic production, which fell from 443 thousand tons to 382 thousand tons over the same four years. The market recovery in 2023 was driven primarily by a rebound in output to 438 thousand tons, supported by a modest rise in imports.
