Earlier Report Observations

The Hungarian market for bobbins, spools, cops and similar supports of paper or paperboard saw its physical volume ease from 18 664 metric tons in 2018 to 18 019 metric tons in 2020, while its value dipped in 2019 before recovering to 19.5 million US dollars in 2020. Over this initial period, domestic production held steady around 14 000 metric tons annually, imports gradually decreased, and exports expanded.

From 2021 onward, import volumes peaked at 8 187 metric tons before entering a sustained decline, falling to 6 097 metric tons by 2025. Export volumes demonstrated consistent growth, rising from 3 144 metric tons in 2018 to 4 799 metric tons in 2025. In value terms, exports more than doubled from 3.2 million US dollars to 6.4 million US dollars over the eight-year span, while import value fluctuated with a high of 8.7 million US dollars in 2022.

The market's trajectory from 2018 to 2025 reflects a clear shift toward a stronger export orientation, with external sales gaining substantial ground in both volume and value as imports retreated from their earlier levels.
