The beer market volume in Slovakia declined overall between 2018 and 2024, falling from 378.3 million liters to 267.4 million liters. This downward trend was not uniform, with a sharp drop in 2019 followed by a partial recovery in 2020 and further fluctuations in subsequent years.

Domestic production saw modest changes, starting at 182.5 million liters in 2018 and ending at 176.6 million liters in 2024, but with a peak of 212.4 million liters in 2020. Imports decreased significantly from 210.5 million liters to 174.4 million liters, while exports expanded more than fivefold, from 14.6 million liters to 83.7 million liters. The growth in exports and reduction in imports contributed to the contraction in total market volume.

In value terms, the market told a different story. After dropping to 200.3 million US dollars in 2021, the market's value rose to 251.5 million US dollars by 2024, even as physical volume continued to fall. This suggests a rise in average prices or a consumer shift toward higher-value beer products during the period.

Beer exports from Slovakia increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 46.2 million liters, reflecting a steep uptick of 103.4% year-over-year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports surged by 216.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 46.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Czechia (29.0% of exports in kind), Hungary (26.3% of exports in kind), and Poland (17.8% of exports in kind) consistently held the leading positions in Slovakia's export structure, jointly accounting for 73.1% of total flows.
