The volume of the asparagus market in Turkey rose sharply from 209 tons in 2018 to 1 146 tons in 2020. This surge was driven by political support for producers, the widespread adoption of the Good Agricultural Practices certificate which enabled direct contracts with large supermarket chains, and successful export-oriented crowdfunding campaigns that financed expansion projects.

Market growth continued, reaching 1 668 tons in 2023. During this period, producers set clear production targets, accessed operational loans from Ziraat Bankası, and launched a second-phase large-scale production campaign in November 2022 accompanied by an investment tour. Planned expansion of cultivation areas by 3 000–4 000 decares aimed to further increase regional production capacity.

In 2024, regulatory amendments to the Marketplaces Regulation removed the 'equal-rights' leasing method in closed markets, potentially altering sales channels and pricing strategies for vegetable and fruit traders. Simultaneously, producers faced water scarcity, rising costs, and marketing challenges.
