Earlier Report Observations

The Brazilian apple juice market expanded significantly in 2019, with volume reaching 41.7 million liters, up from 28 million liters in 2018. This growth was primarily driven by the completion of Embrapa's project for a non-dairy probiotic beverage based on whole apple juice, which introduced a new product category with extended shelf life and created fresh demand.

Market volume then contracted to 35.6 million liters in 2020, a period marked by new labeling regulations such as Anvisa Resolution RDC No. 429/2020. Partial recovery followed in 2021, reaching 36.5 million liters, aided by industry strategies to use concentrated apple juice for more cost-effective formulations. However, volume fell again to 32.9 million liters in 2022 as geopolitical factors sharply reduced exports to Russia and domestic apple prices faced pressure from higher supply.

A strong rebound occurred in 2023, with market volume rising to 41.2 million liters. This increase took place alongside a noted shift in consumer preference toward sweeter apple varieties and industry anticipation of smaller fruit volumes for processing, though strategic use of concentrates helped maintain output.
