Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the Asian apple juice market volume increased from 781 million liters to 1 147 million liters. This growth was supported by rising health consciousness, which boosted demand for juices due to their vitamin content and perceived immunity benefits. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further accelerated this trend as consumers sought healthier options. Additionally, the diversification of processed apple products, such as apple chips and powders, and the expansion of the middle class with a preference for convenient foods contributed to market expansion.

In 2021, market volume rose to 1 249 million liters, aided by the emergence of functional juices combining fruits and herbs, along with new brands entering the market and diversifying packaging. Major companies like Parle Agro announced plans to expand apple-based beverage networks. However, in 2022, volume dipped slightly to 1 210 million liters, while market value continued to climb, reflecting ongoing cost pressures from raw material price increases that began earlier in the period.

A sharp surge occurred in 2023, with volume jumping to 1 642 million liters and value reaching 2 260 million US dollars. This was primarily driven by a steep rise in apple processing raw material prices, which tripled since 2018, leading to cost pass-through and an expansion of distribution channels. Improved organization among producers and wholesale markets also facilitated market growth.
