The market for anti-freezing preparations in Slovenia, measured in volume, contracted from over 5 200 tonnes in 2018 to around 3 500 tonnes by 2024. This decline was interrupted only by a temporary rebound in 2021, when market volume rose to 4 300 tonnes. In value terms, the market followed a similar downward trajectory, falling from 7.5 million USD in 2018 to 5.3 million USD in 2024, with a notable recovery in 2021 to nearly 5.5 million USD.

Domestic production mirrored this contraction, dropping from 1 300 tonnes in 2018 to under 800 tonnes in 2024. Imports, which constitute the bulk of supply, also trended downward over the period, declining from 5 000 tonnes to approximately 4 300 tonnes. Exports showed more volatility but ended the period higher, reaching 1 600 tonnes in 2024 compared to 1 100 tonnes in 2018.

The overall reduction in market volume suggests a combination of reduced domestic output and lower import flows, while export activity remained relatively stable. The temporary increase in 2021 did not establish a new growth trend, as the market resumed its decline in the following years.

Between 2017 and 2020, exports declined by 22.5%, with an average annual drop of 8.2%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2018 at 1 130 tonnes, which also experienced the largest decline of 27.9%. In contrast, the largest increase was in 2019, with a jump of 25.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, the largest buyers of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids from Slovenia in volume terms were Bosnia and Herzegovina (27.1% of exports), Croatia (22.9% of exports), and Serbia (20.9% of exports). Together, these three countries accounted for 70.9% of Slovenia's total exports in this category.
