Between 2018 and 2024, the Polish market for anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids experienced considerable fluctuations in volume. The market size contracted sharply in 2020 to 89.4 thousand tons, down by nearly a quarter from the previous year, but then recovered over the next three years, reaching a peak of 130.3 thousand tons in 2023. However, in 2024 the volume fell back to 114.0 thousand tons, close to the level seen at the start of the period.

This volatility was primarily driven by changes in domestic production, which followed a similar pattern, falling to 82.2 thousand tons in 2020 before surging to 146.7 thousand tons in 2023 and then dropping to 128.0 thousand tons in 2024. At the same time, exports grew steadily from 2021 onward, reaching 38.1 thousand tons in 2024, which tempered the net supply available on the domestic market. Imports, after declining in 2020 and 2021, showed some recovery but remained below their 2018-2019 levels.

Poland's production of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids has declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, output was valued at 63 586 thousand US dollars, marking a 6.7% decrease compared to the previous year. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 76 881 thousand US dollars, which represented a significant 20.8% increase. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with an 11.4% drop.

After two years of growth, Poland's production volume of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids fell in 2020. Output reached 82.2 thousand tonnes, showing a substantial 22.4% decrease from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production declined by 14.3%, averaging a 5.0% annual reduction. The peak was in 2019 at 105.9 thousand tonnes, following a 7.4% increase in 2018.

In 2020, Poland exported 15 783 tonnes of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids, a moderate 8.8% decline from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 9.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of -3.2%. The largest increase was recorded in 2019 at 4.0%.

From 2017 to 2020, the main destinations for Poland's exports of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids in volume terms were Germany, accounting for 23.4% of exports, Ukraine with 19.4%, and Lithuania at 8.7%. Together, these three countries represented 51.5% of total export flows.

Following two years of growth, Poland's exports of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids in value terms declined in 2020. Exports totaled 15 934 thousand US dollars, an 11.4% decrease compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 4.4%, averaging a 1.5% annual growth rate. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 17 979 thousand US dollars, after a 12.2% increase in 2018.

Ukraine led with 21.5% of exports, followed by Germany at 20.4%, and Sweden with 7.2%. Combined, these three countries accounted for 49.1% of total export flows.

Over the 2017-2020 period, imports fell by 46.6%, with an average annual decrease of 18.9%. The largest drop occurred in 2018 at 32.2%, while imports remained stable in 2019.

Between 2017 and 2020, Germany dominated Poland's imports of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids in volume terms, holding a 72.2% share of total flows. All other markets combined accounted for the remaining portion.
