The Armenian market for alliaceous vegetables displayed considerable volatility between 2018 and 2023. It began the period at 54 254 t, then experienced a slight contraction to 52 570 t in 2019.

A clear rebound occurred in 2020, with the market volume expanding to 55 830 t. This was followed by a sharp and pronounced decline in 2021, when consumption fell to 43 813 t.

The market recovered significantly in 2022, reaching 51 227 t, and subsequently stabilized at 52 200 t in 2023.

Armenia's production of alliaceous vegetables rebounded after two years of decline. In 2020, the country produced 52 391 tons, marking a significant 11.3% increase compared to 2019. However, looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 14.8%, which translates to an average annual decline of 5.2%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 47 089 tons, while the sharpest drop occurred in 2018 with a 19.1% decrease.

Export volumes showed considerable volatility during this period. The lowest point was in 2018 at 14 tons, while exports peaked in 2020 at 113 tons, representing an 8.2-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Armenia's alliaceous vegetables exports surged by 157.7% compared to the previous year. The most significant decline occurred in 2018 with a 64.5% drop, whereas the largest increase was recorded in 2019 at 217.5%.

Armenia's alliaceous vegetables exports in value terms grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 102 thousand US dollars, showing a sharp 53.9% increase compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports surged by 1650.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 159.6%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Russia was the dominant destination for Armenia's alliaceous vegetables exports in value terms, absorbing 93.2% of the total.

In 2020, Armenia's imports of alliaceous vegetables in kind amounted to 3 553 tons, which is 35.7% lower than in 2019. From 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 29.6%, equating to an average annual decline of 11.1%. The highest import volume was recorded in 2019 at 5 525 tons, with the largest increase of 22.8% also occurring that year.

During 2017–2020, Russia, Iran, and Turkey were the main sources of Armenia's imports in kind, accounting for 51.5%, 27.9%, and 15.9% respectively. Together, these three countries represented 95.4% of total import flows.
