Globally, Armenia ranked as the 30th largest producer of aubergines between 2017 and 2020.

After two years of decline, Armenia's aubergine production rebounded. In 2020, the country produced 62 408 tonnes of aubergines, marking a 42.2% increase from the previous year. However, over the entire 2017-2020 period, production fell by 26.1%, averaging an annual decline of 9.6%. The lowest output was recorded in 2019 at 43 900 tonnes, while the sharpest drop occurred in 2018 with a 39.3% decrease.

Export volumes showed significant fluctuations during this period. The lowest point was in 2018 at 190 tonnes, while exports peaked in 2020 at 1 074 tonnes—a 5.6-fold difference. The 2020 figure represented a sharp 38.2% rise from 2019. The largest decline was a modest 1.3% in 2018, whereas the biggest increase was a substantial 308.9% in 2019.

Armenia's aubergine imports grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, imports reached 1 518 tonnes, up 31.9% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, imports skyrocketed by 3 844.1%, averaging an annual growth rate of 240.4%.
