Turkish cherry exporters await China market reopening after technical visit

Turkish exporters expect China to consider reopening its market to Turkish cherries after a technical delegation inspected orchards and processing facilities in June. Access to a market importing about 600,000 tonnes annually could help revive shipments after Turkey’s cherry exports fell from 67,000 tonnes in 2024 to 6,000 tonnes last year.

Indonesia declares sugar self-sufficiency, steers cane toward bioethanol

Indonesia has officially declared self-sufficiency in consumption sugar, according to a Ministry of Agriculture statement reported by Warta Ekonomi. Deputy Minister Sudaryono said the government will intensify sugarcane output to feed refined sugar, industrial sugar and bioethanol, aiming to cut reliance on imported refined industrial sugar.
