The market volume for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Croatia gradually contracted from 78 180 t in 2018 to 68 134 t in 2023, a reduction of approximately 13% over five years. The most significant drop occurred in 2023, with volume falling by over 7% year-on-year. This downward trend reversed in 2024, as volume recovered to 72 753 t, though it remained below the 2018 level.

In value terms, the market exhibited considerable volatility, diverging from the physical volume trend. After a modest increase to 11.9 million USD in 2019, the market value declined in 2020, then surged by 30% in 2021 to reach 14.0 million USD. It peaked at 15.4 million USD in 2022 before falling to 13.7 million USD in 2023 and dropping sharply to 10.8 million USD in 2024.

Over the 2018–2024 period, the Croatian market for wheat processing residues shrank by about 7% in physical terms. Meanwhile, its value in US dollars ended lower than at the start, despite a mid-period spike, indicating that price movements and market conditions shifted independently of volume changes.

The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 9.7%, while the largest increase was in 2018, at 27.0%.

After two years of decline, exports of wheat bran, sharps and residues from Croatia rebounded in 2020. The export volume reached 15 049 tonnes, representing a significant gain of 47.3% compared to the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, exports grew by 8.6%, averaging an annualized rate of 2.8%. The lowest export volume was in 2019, at 10 218 tonnes, which also experienced the largest decline of 14.5%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Bosnia and Herzegovina remained the primary market for Croatia's exports in kind, accounting for 80.6% of total flows. The remaining volume was distributed among numerous other destinations.

In 2020, Croatia's exports of wheat bran, sharps and residues in value terms reached 2 138 thousand US dollars, corresponding to a 59.4% increase over the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, exports rose by 28.1%, with an annualized growth rate of 8.6%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019, at 1 341 thousand US dollars, which saw the largest decline of 27.5%.
