The Finnish market for vermouth and other flavoured wines experienced significant volatility between 2018 and 2024. After a sharp contraction to around 1.5 million liters in 2019, consumption rebounded strongly, reaching a peak of 3.3 million liters in 2021. This recovery coincided with a revived consumer interest in vermouth as an aperitif and the overall growth in wine consumption in the country.

Sustainability campaigns by the state alcohol retailer Alko, which promoted alternative packaging like cartons and bag-in-box to reduce its carbon footprint, supported market expansion. However, from 2022 onward, volume contracted as non-alcoholic and low-alcohol wine alternatives gained prominence and improved in quality, drawing demand away from traditional vermouth. Consumer wariness amid rising prices further dampened sales in 2023. A modest recovery to 2.3 million liters occurred in 2024, alongside a broader trend towards sustainable packaging and the implementation of EU rules on geographical indications for wine products.

Finland's exports of vermouth and other flavoured wine increased in value for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 8 519 K $ US, up by 4.3% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 2.2%, with an average annual decline of 0.7%. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 7 867 K $ US, which also saw the largest decline of 9.6%.
