Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2019, the vermouth and flavoured wine market in Eastern Asia saw modest growth, supported by shifting preferences among younger consumers who valued red wine for its perceived health benefits and social status, alongside government policies promoting regional wine industry development. This trend was interrupted in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant contraction in consumption and imports, reducing overall market volume.

Economic uncertainty and cautious consumer spending contributed to a further decline in market size in 2021. A recovery followed in 2022, driven by rising demand for sparkling wine, increased launch of low- and non-alcoholic products targeting health-conscious young adults, and the expansion of sales through online and live commerce channels.

The market volume fell sharply in 2023 as ongoing economic headwinds and reduced consumer expenditure outweighed the relative resilience shown by sparkling and premium wine segments.
