Earlier Report Observations

The uncooked pasta market in Trinidad and Tobago exhibited strong volatility between 2018 and 2023. Volume surged by 39% in 2019 to nearly 6 thousand tonnes, marking the highest point in the period.

Following the peak, market volume entered a multi-year decline, falling to 3 thousand tonnes by 2022. A modest recovery to 3.2 thousand tonnes occurred in 2023. In contrast, the market's value in U.S. dollars began a steady climb after 2020, growing from USD 5.4 million in 2021 to USD 6.5 million in 2023.

The divergent paths of volume and value indicate a shift toward higher-priced products or increased unit costs within the market during the latter years.
