From 2018 to 2023, the grapefruit juice market volume in Trinidad and Tobago fell sharply from 34 475 thousand liters to 371 thousand liters in physical terms. This contraction was directly linked to a dramatic reduction in imports, which plummeted from 34 228 thousand liters to just 130 thousand liters over the same period.

Domestic production remained relatively stable throughout, fluctuating between 241 thousand liters and 332 thousand liters annually. Consequently, local output came to represent a significantly larger share of the total market supply.

In value terms, the market followed a different pattern. After declining from USD 1.85 million in 2018 to USD 1.34 million in 2021, the market value recovered to USD 1.75 million in 2023, even as the physical volume continued to decline.

The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 241.1 thousand liters, when output fell by 19.9%.

Following a two-year downturn, Trinidad and Tobago's grapefruit juice production saw an uptick in value terms. In 2020, the output was valued at 876 thousand US dollars, reflecting a modest 9.4% rise compared to 2019. However, over the broader 2017-2020 period, production value decreased by 26.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of -9.9%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 801 thousand US dollars, when it dropped by 20.2%.

Between 2017 and 2020, the United States, Grenada, and Barbados were the top three markets for Trinidad and Tobago's grapefruit juice exports in volume terms, collectively accounting for 79.7% of total shipments.

In 2020, exports were valued at 216 thousand US dollars, showing a slight gain of 1.2% over the prior year.
